It might have been a dismal day, but this one’s a pretty place. It’s a good size lot and is nicely landscaped.
You also get bonus points for having a raised front porch. Something about being elevated just a few inches makes you feel like you’re king of the hill sitting on your front porch.
As usual, I’m a big fan of a wooden ceiling, and the hanging electric lantern is a nice touch.
There’s a sensible entryway so you don’t get dropped straight into the living room.
The living room is large enough to accommodate over-sized furniture along with a fireplace and a bit of built in storage.
The dining room is to the right as you enter and connects to the entry and living room.
The kitchen is tastefully done. The support columns left and right of the bar seating help ground the bar overhang and will likely prevent an overly playful 5 year old from standing up to bonk their little head on the countertop corner. The importance of under-cabinet lighting can not be stressed enough. Plus, the walk in pantry at the end of the kitchen was a great design decision.
It’s a small addition, but garbage can drawers really should be a standard feature.
The backsplash and range hood are also a nice touch. So are the spice cabinets on each side of the range.
The primary fits a bed and dresser with room for another large dresser opposite the bed without feeling cramped.
The ensuite is your standard split vanity design. It’s nothing wild, but it makes for a decent amount of storage.
The soaking tub and shower sit across from the vanities. Something about natural light from a frosted window above the tub will always feel right.
The shower tile goes to the ceiling, and has a nice pattern inset into it.
The walk-in closet gives quite a bit of mixed storage—racks, shelves, and drawers.
The two guest bedrooms are on the far side of the house and share a bathroom that’s in the hallway.
There’s a secret door in the garage.
At the top of the stairs there’s a quite spacious flex room. Bonus points for including fans in a space in which most people omit them.
Out back, there’s a nice covered patio.
There’s also a deck and pool area.
A pergola provides a bit of shade and allows for a space to keep an eye on kids and animals in the fully fenced yard.
